JOB PURPOSE:

This role will take charge of the crew operations center facility to cultivate a dynamic and efficient operation, provide guidance, leadership, and decision-making support to Crew Duty Controllers and support teams, while ensuring adherence to regulatory and service standards. Other responsibilities will be to continuously refine the service levels, facilities, and operational efficiency to meet current and future operational requirements, develop, refine, and implement departmental goals and procedures to optimize punctuality, productivity, and preparedness for any situation.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Plan annual crew operations budget and manage resources effectively to ensure cost-efficient operations and 24-hour coverage.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for critical incidents, supporting Crew Duty Controllers in decision-making.
  • Own and maintain the Flight Operations emergency response, ensuring clarity of responsibilities and facilitating regular training and updates. Ensure that everyone in the Crew Centre teams is clear on their responsibilities in the event of an incident/accident.

  • Establish, implement, and advance departmental goals. Lead and mentor the team, setting strategic goals and fostering a service-oriented culture.
  • Enhance and monitor briefing quality and accuracy to inspire and motivate crew members, ensuring consistency across briefings.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with partners and stakeholders to meet departmental needs efficiently.
  • Contribute to business continuity and contingency planning, managing emergency response plans and coordinating operational activities. Initiate and oversee necessary actions and operational activities, including coordinating call-out exercises in collaboration with OCC (Operations Control Centre), and advocate for the department in addressing shortcomings.
  • Lead key projects and participate in process trials and product development initiatives. Collaborate with Senior Manager Crew Support to ensure implications, such as crew ground processes, baggage handling, and transportation logistics, are considered in departmental projects.
  • Analyse daily operations and implement performance measures for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for crew management from their departure from accommodation until their return, ensuring worldwide punctuality, operational efficiency, crew well-being, and a point of contact for managing crew welfare.
  • Close collaboration with Manager Crew Services to oversee worldwide crew management, including coordination with Ground Operations (outstation) on operational performance and down-route sickness, while prioritizing punctuality to minimize crew delays.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Aviation experience in Crew or Passenger services operational environment, with at least 3+ years in a managerial role.
  • Flight Operations experience (Flight and Cabin Crew) preferred.
  • Knowledge of crew management, operations, and training systems preferred.


ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or Honors (12+3 or equivalent).


SKILLS:

  • Fluency in English.
  • Must have extensive knowledge and skills in Airline Operations Management.
  • Detailed knowledge of critical incident management and defining operational procedures.
  • Must be capable of working under pressure in an environment where a very high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and control are required necessitating the job holder to demonstrate leadership ability.
  • Aviation experience within an operational environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety & emergency, security, SOPs, regulatory bodies, and aircrew licensing requirements.
